In 2004 Avastin was approved by the FDA for treatment of metastatic (cancer that has spread outside the local area) colon cancer. Heralded as the new chemo agent that would “change everything” for cancer patients. Immediately Roche began seeking other indications and usage for the drug to drive up their profits.

It is interesting that we, here in the United States, use 99% of all hydrocodone in the world. We use 80% of all opioid drugs in the world, (we are less than 5% of the world population). It kind of makes you wonder just what the Afghans would do if we stop using painkillers.
